21.01.20. Tree Planting
Thank you to resident volunteers, councillors and Parish Council staff for helping to plant water loving trees on the QE II playing field on Sunday.
As you may know, the playing field suffers from water logging over the winter and with no effective or economical way to drain the field, the Paris Council decided that planting trees may help to absorb surface water and improve the environment.

01.12.19. Christmas Market - the Upton-by-Chester Christmas Market was very enjoyable on a cold but sunny day. Food and complimentary mulled wine got everyone into the Christmas spirit and Father Christmas proved a great hit with the children as usual.
Upton Fun Day 2019 was a huge hit with our local community, with overwhelmingly positive feedback!
See our gallery below for highlights of the day. A big thank-you goes to local photographer Jeff Price.

Commemoration of 80 years since the beginning of WW2
On Tuesday 3 September the Parish Council held a small commemorative ceremony in honour of 80 years since WW2 began. Members of the Upton Royal British Legion were invited, along with representatives from Upton Churches Together, family members of those named on the War Memorial and all Upton residents.

The ceremony was held at the Upton War Memorial. Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr Alison Bennion paid tribute to all those named on the Upton War Memorial and also those who were not.

Local resident Mr John Butler recited the Kohima Epitaph from the memorial carving of the second British Division in the cemetery of Kohima; also later, the words of the Exhortation, followed by two minutes silence.

The occasion was marked by planting a small ornamental tree in the garden; thank you to Cllr Gary Hulmes for assisting with this, also to UPC staff member Mr Peter Griffiths for adding the commemorative plaque. Refreshments were served afterwards in Upton Pavilion. Thank you to all those who attended.
